Job Description
A long-time established company in Pelham, NH has an immediate need for a Senior Process Technician for its Molding Department on 1st shift. This person must have at least 8 years of experience and be able to set up Molding Machines.
BASIC FUNCTION
Under general supervision, physically sets-up, processes, and troubleshoots Arburg/Niigata molding machines and ancillary equipment for the efficient production and assembly of plastic components for medical devices. Assists engineers to develop and qualify new product releases and to contribute/identify areas where efficiency and/or quality can be improved.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES In accordance with written and verbal work instruction, sets-up and monitors a wide variety of machines and equipment in preparation of production and assembly. Adjusts machines and equipment within defined parameters to achieve conformance to specifications.
Physically installs injection molds and required equipment onto molding machines in preparation for upcoming manufacturing campaigns.
Evaluates initial production samples and assesses output to ensure conformance to defined specifications.
Monitors and verifies production outputs through auditing, speaking with operators, and verification of process outputs. Performs quality inspections utilizing specialized inspection equipment (i.e., laser micrometer, vision system, calipers, etc). Confirms conformance to specification based on customer drawings and inspection documents.
Reviews and monitors the performance of equipment, machines and tools, and identifies equipment problems or process parameters that produce non-conforming products, low yields, or product quality issues. Makes corrections and/or adjustments within allowable parameters and alerts engineering when problems/issues cannot be resolved within established parameters for the job.
Evaluates, troubleshoots and provides feedback on the effectiveness of set-up operations. Resolves a variety of basic to more complex equipment issues and identifies improvements in the areas of tooling, documentation, run-rate, yields, etc. Notifies higher level engineers or supervisor when more complex issues occur that cannot be resolved.
Provides guidance and training on the correct techniques and work procedures to ensure effective set up techniques are implemented and followed.
Notifies trainer and group lead of any inconsistencies and/or issues with operating procedures. May make suggestions and/or mark ups for corrections (i.e., Engineering Change Order process).
Participates with engineering in the initial start up of R&D activity and transition of new products, processes and equipment into production.
Inspects, cleans, repairs, and maintains equipment and/or machinery according to cleanliness and safety standards.
Verifies and as necessary, performs Line Clearance and completes documentation in accordance with the Company guidelines. Completes manufacturing documentation as required (i.e., job travelers/run sheets).
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE: 8+ years of technical experience or the equivalent
SPECIAL SKILLS: Able to read blueprints and schematics; mechanical abilities and aptitude; proficient in the use of measuring equipment; proficient in the use of specialized inspection equipment, good written and verbal communication skills, attention-to-detail.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Able to lift up to 20 lbs; sit, stand, bend and stoop; good visual acuity and capable of fine motor skills
