Job Description
Our client is looking for a Manual Machinist. This company specializes in precision metal manufacturing and has earned recognition for their commitment to quality and safety. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and operating manual machinery to produce high-quality sheet metal parts, tools, and instruments. You’ll work with blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure each part meets specifications, using your expertise with hand tools, calipers, and micrometers. Whether on the first or second shift, you’ll contribute to a team focused on craftsmanship and accuracy, with opportunities for temp-to-perm employment or direct hire for the right candidate.
You will be responsible for:
- Setting up and operating manual machining equipment such as milling machines, lathes, surface grinders, drills, presses, and boring mills
- Using blueprints, schematics, and tape measures to inspect parts and ensure precision
- Performing preventative maintenance on tools and machinery
- Selecting appropriate tools, dies, or molds for each job
- Measuring parts with calipers, micrometers, and gauge blocks
- Handling repetitive motions, including elbow, wrist, grasping, and squeezing movements
- Lifting up to 50 lbs and standing throughout your shift
Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Required Skills, Education and Experience:
- Experience with manual machining equipment such as mills, lathes, and surface grinders
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and using hand tools like calipers and micrometers
- Knowledge of sheet metal work and tool & die experience is highly preferred
- Ability to measure threaded parts and use gauges accurately
- Strong math skills and ability to read tape measures
- Experience with preventative maintenance and tooling selection
