As the Environmental Health & Safety Manager you can expect to provide day to day operational and technical environmental, health and safety (EHS) support to the organization.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations including those related to permits, reporting, and other requests
- Ensure all new processes added into the facility are implemented safely and in accordance with all local, state, and federal EHS requirements.
- Lead the chemical management program including SDS management, chemical inventory, GHS labelling, and new chemical approvals.
- Ensure all SDS sheets are on file and accessible to all stakeholders.
- Work with chemical line operators to ensure all treatment and discharge requirements are being met, especially when production or manufacturing process changes necessitate changes in permitting or reporting.
- Support risk reduction measures relative to COVID-19 including monitoring adherence to the company's pandemic plan.
- Develop and maintain a document filing system for EHS-related records. Create and update EHS documents as needed.
- Provide guidance to employees filling out incident reports and near miss forms. Communicate with Supervisor any new incidents/near misses.
- Maintain Automatic Electronic Defibrillators (AEDs) & eyewash stations for Emergency Medical Response.
- Assist employees with Safety Shoe/Glasses Program.
- Manage procurement for the EHS department.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
- B.S. in Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or related degree required, plus 2-5 years’ experience in environmental regulatory compliance or process safety in the metalworking industry preferred.
- Microsoft Office
- General awareness of both State (NH Department of Environmental Services) and Federal (Environmental Protection Agency) environmental regulations, as well as OSHA safety regulations
- Willingness to obtain NH Department of Environmental Services Hazardous Waste Coordinator Certification within 6 months of start date
- Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees (from senior staff to hourly workers), environmental regulatory agencies, vendors, and the public. Must be able to manage several projects simultaneously.
